Monroeville's Littlejohn and Schafer bound for Buckeye Boys State

Young men from around Ohio to learn about city, county and state government process.

American Legion Post 547 has selected Samuel Littlejohn and Benjamin Schafer, juniors at Monroeville High School to participate in American Legion Buckeye Boys State, a eight-day intensive education program on Ohio government for high school students, where each participant becomes a part of the operation of a mythical 51st state local, county and state government.

At American Legion Buckeye Boys State, participants are exposed to the rights, privileges, duties and responsibilities of a franchised citizen. The training is objective, practical and non-partisan with city, county and state government operated by students elected to the various offices. Activities include legislative sessions, court proceedings, law enforcement presentations, assemblies, a band, and recreation. High School juniors are selected by local American Legion posts.

American Legion Buckeye Boys Statewide be held June 10 to 17 on campus of Miami University in Oxford.

Post 547 is located at 8 S. Main St., Monroeville.
