Olympic gold medalist visits St. Paul

By MATT FAIR • Mar 16, 2018 at 4:10 PM

St. Paul High School had a pleasant surprise this week — a visit from an Olympic gold medalist.

Science teacher Cindy Llewellyn invited her “niece-to-be,” Shannon Szabados, to visit her classroom. Szabados is the goalie for the national Canadian hockey team.

On her way to another event, Szabados stopped by to visit St. Paul.

Students got to see and hold her three Olympic medals (two golds and one silver). Szabados was also gracious enough to answer questions about her experience playing hockey in the Olympics. She shared the hard work of her Olympic journey and stories about her three experiences in Vancouver, Sochi and PyeongChang.
