St. Paul's Arnold, Dowdell pace area runners at Carnival

TIFFIN — St. Paul’s Jared Arnold and Lily Dowdell were each the top area finisher in their respective races at Saturday’s Tiffin Carnival — the largest cross country meet in America — held at Hedges-Boyer Park.

Both state qualifiers a year ago, Arnold was 14th in the boys Division III-A varsity race in a time of 16:24.5. Dowdell crossed the finish line with a time of 19:47.4 to place 15th overall in the girls Div. III varsity race.

Also in the boys Div. III-A varsity race, Curtis Joppeck was the top finishing New London runner in 24th (16:49.2) as the Wildcats placed eighth with 277 points.

Carson Coey was 31st (16:57.4) for New London, followed by Dominic Albaugh (17:05.1) in 35th; Cole Kropka (18:04.3) in 89th and Caleb Good (18:21.2) in 105th.

Joining Arnold from St. Paul, Noah Avandano also had a strong showing, placing 29th (16:55.7). Zack Stine (17:58.2) was 77th and Sam Sigsworth (18:22) was 107th.

Plymouth was led by Levi Robinson, as the freshman turned in a time of 17:28.8 to place 46th.

Western Reserve was the top finishing area team (13th) in the Div. III-A girls varsity race with 440 points. New London was just behind in 14th (517) and St. Paul was 19th (654).

Kaylin Williams was 35th (20:27) for the Wildcats, with Western’s top finisher being Brooke Perkins (21:03) in 58th. McKenna Woodruff was 69th (21:19.3), Chelsey Shawver (21:21.4) in 70th and Tabi Pausch (21:39.2) in 83rd for the Roughriders.

Also for New London, Gabrielle Osterland (21:25) placed 73rd, followed by Savannah Shaver (21:29.1) in 76th.

Following Dowdell for St. Paul included Ally Brown (22:00) in 103rd and Claire Ceccoli (22:41.4) in 148th.

Plymouth’s top finisher was Olivia Fidler (23:03.6) in 170th.

In the boys Div. III-B race, Western Reserve was 14th, led by Breckyn Hunter’s 22nd-place effort (18:30.1). Eli Webb finished right behind in 23rd (18:35.2).

Monroeville’s Clayton Littlejohn was runner-up (18:11.1) in the Div. III boys open race, but it was the New London boys taking third overall with 110 points.

Mitchell Joppeck was seventh overall (18:52.9) for the Wildcats and Aaron Reed ran 26th (19:38.0).

Norwalk boys 18th in Div. I

In the Div. I varsity race, Norwalk’s Quinnlan Hipp was 82nd with a time of 18:21.2, helping the Truckers to an 18th-place finish with 555 points.

Jad Oglesby was 88th (18:31.3) for the Truckers, while Matthew Neuberger (18:57.7) was 121st, Brandon Wise (19:07.2) was 130th and Samuel Neuberger was 137th (19:11.5).

Julian Go paced Norwalk in the Div. I-A race, as he finished in 71st (17:00.6). Robert Vazquez (17:07.4) was 77th, followed by Owen Lottman (17:14.1) in 91st, Christopher Mohr (17:21.1) in 95th and Mitchell Sommers (17:23.9) in 99th.

Norwalk was 14th in the team standings in the Div. I-A race.

In the girls Div. I race, Norwalk’s Elyse Coe ran a time of 21:09.0 to finish in 68th, while Bethany Cring (21:23.2) was 81st.

Also for Norwalk, Janie Dominguez (22:57.5) was 114th, while Jada Thomas (24:23.1) was 124th

The Norwalk girls were 19th as a team.

Edison boys highlight Div. II varsity race

Edison sophomore Daniel Lambert had a time of 16:24.6 to finish 11th overall in the boys Div. II varsity race. The Chargers were ninth as a team (234), while Bellevue was 24th (686) and Willard 25th (715).

Edison’s Tyler Coon ran 38th (17:05.6), while teammate Jonathon Hrivnak (17:21.7) was 55th, Gavin Schaeffer (17:29.7) was 62nd and Brandon Romell (17:34.4) was 68th.

Zach Cleveland paced Bellevue, taking 43rd (17:09.9), while Willard’s Blake Smith was 44th (17:10.3).

Edison was also ninth in the boys Div. II Open race, finishing with 292 with William Duniver taking 36th overall (18:54.1). Willard’s Ethan Slone (19:23.5) and Juan Lopez (19:23.6) were 59th and 61st in the same race.

Bellevue girls 3rd in Div. II-III Open, 12th in Div. II-A

Meredith Engler took 38th overall (23:27.8) for the Bellevue girls in the Div. II-III Open race, helping the Lady Red take third overall in the 25-team field with 137 points.

Meanwhile, Taylor Waldecker’s 25th-place run (19:59.9) was tops for Bellevue in a 12th-place finish (311) in the Div. II-A Varsity race.

Willard’s Emily Rothhaar was 36th (20:30.6). Edison’s Abby Lesniak was 55th and Ashley Sneider was 56th with times of 21:04.5 and 21:05.9 respectively.

Monroeville’s Callie Rosser and Kristen Smith were 18th and 21st with times of 22:49.4 and 23:01.5, respectively.

Also for Willard, Morgan Adams (21:14.9) was 60th and Jillian Schloemer (21:30.1) was 68th.
