Elias B. Atkinson, 27, of Columbus, has been indicted by a Huron County grand jury.
He is charged with the following felonies: Five counts of rape; five charges of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material or performance; two counts of pandering sexually-oriented matters involving a minor; one charge each of importuning and sexual battery; nine counts of gross sexual imposition; and three charges of disseminating matters harmful to juveniles.
In addition, Atkinson faces four counts of unlawful restraint, third-degree misdemeanors.
The Huron County Sheriff’s Office investigated one of the suspected rapes on April 1, according to court records. Deputies transported him to jail May 22, where he has remained.
Also, Robert J. Atkinson, 28, most recently of U.S. 20, Lot 31, Wakeman, was charged with three counts of rape. One of the first-degree felonies carries the specification that the possible victim was younger than 10. Robert Atkinson has been in jail since May 29.
Other defendants who were indicted recently are:
• Jeremiah M. Bennett, 36, most recently of 2708 Hartland Center Road, Collins, on one one count each of illegal manufacturing of drugs, illegal assembly or possession of chemicals for the manufacturing of drugs, attempted assembly or possession of chemicals for the manufacturing of drugs, possessing drug abuse instruments, carrying a concealed weapon and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia
• John N. Dendinger Jr., 42, most recently of 63 N. Foster St., Apt B, on one one count each of tampering with evidence and possessing criminal tools
• Justin S. Dobias, 38, most recently of 3426 Greenwich-Angling Road, Greenwich, on one count each of aggravated possession of drugs, possessing of drug abuse instruments, driving under an OVI suspension and having physical control of a vehicle while under the influence
• Ryan L. Rang, 34, most recently of 100 S. Main St., Lot 12, North Fairfield, on permitting drug abuse. He has been in jail since the Monroeville Police Department transported him there June 8.
