We'd like to know what you think

We want to know what you think.

Despite what President Donald Trump thinks, we are not your enemy.

This is what our president said in a recent speech:

WASHINGTON — President Trump turned his speech before a conservative convention into a full-throated attack on journalism, saying some reporters make up unnamed sources for “fake news” and again describing them as “the enemy” of the American people.

“A few days ago I called the fake news the enemy of the people, and they are — they are the enemy of the people,” Trump told the annual Conservative Political Action Conference.

While praising some reporters as honest and pledging fealty to the First Amendment, Trump claimed that “the fake news media doesn’t tell the truth.” He said reporters should not be allowed to use anonymous sources and “we’re going to do something about it.”

The president did not elaborate on what that “something” might be, beyond general criticism.

At another press gathering, The White House picked which journalists could participate. Reporters for CNN, the New York Times, Politico, BuzzFeed and the majority of the foreign press were not among them.

Let me be the first to report the Norwalk Reflector was not one of the outlets banned from the briefing.

It’s our business here to inform, educate and entertain our readers. Along with our advertisers, our goal is to put out the best local product six days a week.

And we can’t do this alone. We count on our readers to help us out with tips, stories, photos and suggestions. If you know if something is going on, let us know. If you have information about something that already has happened, share it with us.

We want to know what we can do to become a better newspaper.

We are scheduling visits around town and in the local communities. We want to sit down and listen to what you have to say. We’ll even buy the coffee.

We want these to be constructive meetings, not bitch sessions.

We know everybody would like their local teams to have better coverage and they would like more community news. We get it. I can tell you sports editor Jake Furr is doing everything he can to pump up our sports coverage and what a great job he is doing.

We’ll let you know where we are going to be and would love to see you.
