Golden Corral opens today in Perkins Township

PERKINS TWP. — The gold-standard of buffet restaurants opens its doors in Sandusky.

After months of anticipation, Golden Corral officially opened at 9 a.m. today.

Franchise owner Tony Puckett also owns the Golden Corral in Toledo, but the Sandusky location is closer to home for him, both metaphorically and literally.

“I was born and raised in Marblehead and still live there, which was reason enough to open a location in Sandusky,” Puckett said. “It’s closer to home.”

The new Golden Corral is on Milan Road in the old Ryan’s Buffet building across the street from Mad River Harley-Davidson. The building has gone through extensive renovations during the last few months.

Last week, Puckett had this to say: “I’m looking forward to the opening and changing people’s minds on what they think about buffet restaurants.”

A ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the new restaurant is scheduled for 8 a.m. May 6.
