PERKINS TWP. — The Pump Bar & Grille, a popular Sandusky-area establishment where friends gather for cocktails and live music, will cease operations in early June.

“We are sad to announce that The Pump will be closing the doors for good at the end of (Ohio) Bike Week,” according to a statement posted on the company’s Facebook page. Ohio Bike Week runs from May 24 through June 2.

Local band Tight Wadd will play a final concert to commemorate the occasion.

“We appreciate everyone that kept it alive and will sadly miss everyone,” the statement read.

In February, the Register reported how the Perkins Township zoning appeals board approved a permit for a proposed gas station and Friendship convenience store at this site: on Hayes Avenue (Ohio 4) and West Strub Road. Plans show the project getting built atop the land where The Pump stands today.
