MILAN — The Milan Chamber of Commerce will host its 60th annual banquet and awards program.

The event takes place Feb. 11 — the 172nd birthday of the town’s most famous native, Thomas Edison — in the Milan Township Hall located on the square in the village. The banquet will celebrate the contributions made to Milan by area businesses, organizations and individuals.

“The high quality of life in the Milan community does not occur by accident,” banquet committee member Tina Frederick said in news release. “It’s the result of the actions of the men and women who comprise this community.”

This year the following rewards will be presented:

• Citizen of the year: Dan Frederick, Milan Township Trustee and owner of Daniel Frederick Architects

• Business of the year: Samaha Antiques and Kelley Building

• Organization of the year: Mid-Summer Antique Festival

• Youth Service Award: Edison Local Schools, 50th anniversary

The event begins at 6 p.m. and is catered by Berardi’s of Huron. The awards will be presented at 8 p.m. For more, call 419-357-4500.
