The Board of Directors of the Huron County Chamber of Commerce in Norwalk has accepted Melissa James’ letter of resignation as the director of the chamber.

In her letter of resignation James stated she felt the chamber is ready for fresh leadership, and she is exploring a new avenue of service in the county. She thanked the business leaders who shared their time and talent with her over the years.

The board met Wednesday, Oct. 3, and regretfully accepted James’ resignation. The board is grateful for her dedicated service and the tremendous contributions she has made to the chamber, the local businesses and to the community. She has served as the director since Sept. 10, 2001.

The board of directors, under President Kathleen Schaffer, has formed a transition team to guide the search for a replacement.

“We want to thank Melissa for her service and wish her well in her future endeavors. We also look forward to continuing the chamber’s long tradition of excellent leadership.” Schaffer said.

“Our chamber is a strong organization, and as board members, we know the value our businesses receive from being a member of the chamber.”
