The Norwalk real-estate development company received an innovation award for turning the empty Kmart building into a viable, tax-paying business in the city. Water Source is being housed at the Whittlesey Avenue property.
Mary Ann Hipp accepted the award on behalf of Jeff Hipp.
According to its website, Maple City Builders has “bought, developed, and sold many unique properties ranging from condominium complexes to warehouses to bank buildings.”
Receiving Golden Maple awards from NEDC were:

• New Horizons Baking Co.
• Mike and Allison Will, of Maple City Rubber.
In addition, Steve Zigo, of Norwalk, was honored by NEDC for his exceptional achievement in economic development and being a “tireless advocate” over the years.
