Norwalk woman nationally recognized for court reporting

Zoe Greszler • Sep 11, 2017 at 9:00 AM

Marie Fresch earned some national recognition for her fast, accurate, real-time courtroom reporting. To earn the honor she has given typed realtime dictations of at least 180 words per minute.

The National Court Reporters Association (NCRA), the country’s leading organization representing stenographic court reporters, broadcast and CART captioners, and legal videographers, announced that Fresch earned the nationally recognized Certified Realtime Captioner (CRC) certification.

The recognition acknowledges proficiency in language skills and in real-time writing in the broadcast and CART (Communication Access Realtime Translation) environments.

CART often is defined as live-event captioning, which relies on real-time reporting to produce an immediate transcript of the spoken word. Real-time reporting produces an immediate transcript of proceedings by using a steno machine connected to a computer that instantly translates spoken word to text.

Fresch is a member of NCRA and has worked as a court reporter since 1979.

She also holds the professional certifications of registered professional reporter (RPR) and registered merit reporter (RMR). Fresch is currently a self-employed court reporter for Marie B. Fresch & Associates.

“I am proud to have earned such a certification to allow me to better serve the Hearing Impaired Community through captioning.” Fresch said.

Civista Bank named 2017 Best Banks to Work For

SANDUSKY — Civista Bank has been named one of the Best Banks to Work For in 2017 for the fifth consecutive year.

The Best Banks to Work For program, which was initiated in 2013 by American Banker and Best Companies Group, identifies, recognizes and honors U.S. banks for outstanding employee satisfaction. Civista was among 75 banks named to the 2017 list.

“Our annual ranking recognizes the financial institutions that are committed to investing in employees’ job satisfaction, career development and personal growth – a ‘return on assets’ that can be hard to measure by traditional means,” said Marc Hochstein, editor-in-chief of American Banker. “One of the most valuable assets for any organization is the team of people it employs, and banks are no exception.”

Determining the best banks to work for involves an evaluation of participating companies’ workplace policies, practices, and demographics. Employee surveys are then conducted to directly assess the experiences and attitudes of individual employees with respect to their workplace. The combined scores determine the top banks and the final ranking.

Firelands earns accreditation for breast biopsy

SANDUSKY — Firelands Regional Medical Center has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in stereotactic breast biopsy as the result of a recent review by the American College of Radiology (ACR).

A breast biopsy is performed to remove tissue — either surgically or through a less invasive procedure involving a hollow needle from a suspicious area in the breast. The tissue is examined under a microscope to determine a diagnosis. In a stereotactic breast biopsy, a special mammography attachment helps guide the biopsy needle to the site of the abnormal area.

The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities meeting ACR Practice Parameters and Technical Standards after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field.

When a facility has the ACR gold seal, patients can feel confident the facility has undergone a rigorous review process and meets nationally accepted standards of care; personnel are well qualified to perform procedures and interpret medical images; and the equipment is assessed by a medical imaging expert who verifies that it functions properly, takes optimal images and utilizes appropriate radiation dose levels.
