Willard girls state bound
ROSSFORD — The Willard Lady Flashes are headed to state.
On Friday, the Willard Lady Flashes competed in the district tournament and advanced as a team to state thanks to a third place finish.
The Lady Flashes received a huge 3-game total from Aubrey Mathias who rolled a 548 to lead the team. Kathleen Schaaf added a 518 while Kourtney Craft chipped in with a 498. Hannah McClanahan rolled a 477 and Desiree Cummings added a 412 to round out the Willard scoring.
The Lady Flashes will bowl in the state finals at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at Wayne Webb’s Columbus Bowl located at 3224 South High Street in Columbus.
Willard boys finish year
ROSSFORD — The Willard Flashes completed their season on Friday after finishing in 11th place at the district tournament.
Joshua Holida led the Flashes with a 554 while Brandon Dye added a 527. Nathaniel Garrett chipped in with a 524 while Nicholas Scholes rolled a 437 and Jacob Holthouse added a 338 to round out the Willard scoring.
Ontario 57, Willard 41
WILLARD — The Crimson Flashes fell in their final NOL game against the red-hot Warriors Friday night.
Ontario (17-5, 9-3) began the season 2-4 — but have won 15 of its last 16 games.
For Willard (3-19, 1-11), Ethan Daub scored 21 of the team's 41 points in the defeat. Nick Cofer chipped in with seven points while Nryce Bailey added six, Jarett Sowers scored four and Brevon Polachek added three to round out the scoring.
The Crimson Flashes will face Western Reserve (13-8) in a Div. III sectional championship game next Friday at Shelby.
Crestview 46, Monroeville 42
MONROEVILLE — The Eagles closed out the regular season with a competitive loss to the visiting Cougars in an FC game Friday night.
Monroeville (3-19, 1-13) was led by Reece Kendall's 14 points, while Nick Newell added 12 and Blake Anderson scored nine points. Logan Clouse added four and Aiden Stieber chipped in with three to round out the Eagles’ scoring.
The Eagles will open up Division IV sectional play with a championship game at 6:15 p.m. Friday against the winner of Mansfield St. Peter's and Danbury.
