Not only was she celebrating her 94th birthday, she matched her age by bowling a 94 in the Thursday Morning Women’s League at Kenilee Lanes.
She bowled the 94 in her first game and before the match was over she found herself in the limelight to the delight of the other bowlers.
“I started bowling in 1973. ... A long time ago,” Leber said between frames of her third game.
Leber said she bowls once a week and carries a 115 average. She uses a 10-pound ball.
After turning 90 Leber bowled a 200 game.
Leber was born Feb. 11, 1922 in southern Ohio. She came to Norwalk for her job. She has six children.
“I can’t tell you how many grandchildren,” she said. “I have like 24 and I have great-grandchildren.”
How long will she keep bowling?
“As long as I am able to,” Leber said with a big smile. “You’ve got to do something to keep busy.”
