SC grad Hintz scores 1,000th point at Findlay

FINDLAY — University of Findlay women's basketball senior Anna Hintz, a 2015 South Central graduate, surpassed the 1,000-point mark in her team's 93-62 win over Urbana on Wednesday.

Hintz, a 6-foot-2 senior forward, led the Oilers with 19 points and 13 rebounds. She became the 22nd member of the 1,000-point club in Oilers history on a jumper early in the first quarter. Hintz has scored 1,012 points in a Findlay jersey and will soon pass Katie Stedcke (1,035) for 21st on the all-time scoring list.

As a junior last season, Hintz started all 30 games and was named Named first team all-Great Midwest and second team all-region by D2CCA. She averaged 18.4 points and 8.6 rebounds per game, and is already among the all-time UF leaders for points in a career and season, and rebounds in a career and season.

At South Central, Hintz was Division IV All-Ohio first team to go with AP Northwest District and District 6 Player of the Year for the 2014-15 season. She was also a two-time Firelands Conference Player of the Year after scoring 1,703 points and 960 rebounds for the Trojans.

The Oilers (2-0) will be back in action again on Nov. 29 when they travel to Tiffin University for 5:30 p.m. game.

 

More honors for WJU's Kramer

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Wheeling Jesuit University volleyball's Haley Kramer was named the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Div. II Atlantic Region Player of the Year Wednesday afternoon announced the organization.

Kramer, a 2016 Monroeville graduate, earned Player of the Year honors after hitting .384 this year in the middle for Wheeling Jesuit. Her hitting percentage led the Mountain East Conference (MEC) and is ranked 14th in the country. The 2018 MEC and D2CCA Atlantic Region Player of the Year also ranks seventh in the MEC with 3.52 kills per set, while her 1.21 blocks per set is 27th in the country.

Kramer's twin sister, Breanna, is also a key contributor on the team for the powerhouse Cardinals.

Wheeling Jesuit (34-3) recently won the Atlantic Regional crown and will compete in the NCAA Div. II national quarterfinals in Pittsburgh at the A.J. Palumbo Center at 12 p.m. on Nov. 29. The Cardinals will face the Midwest Regional winner Lewis.
