Five from Norwalk, Edison earn All-SBC first team

Four area players earned a spot in the All-Sandusky Bay Conference Lake division first team, the league announced on Tuesday.

A pair of seniors from Norwalk earned spots on the first team infield in Jacob Roth and Quinn Hipp.

In 25 games for the Truckers (13-12), Roth batted .397 with 11 doubles, a home run and six RBIs. He scored 33 runs, and was 1-2 with a 2.26 ERA on the mound in eight appearances (three starts). Roth also struck out 19 batters in 21 2/3 innings.

In 25 games, Hipp finished with a .447 average, three doubles and 22 RBIs.

Bellevue infielder Bryce Ray was a unanimous choice as the Most Outstanding Performer for the league. In 22 games, Ray hit .487 with seven doubles, three triples, three home runs and 14 RBIs. He also scored 27 runs, and struck out just three times in 76 at bats.

The Redmen (18-4) shared the league title with Clyde and won 18 games this season. Also for Bellevue, Mitchell Wells was one of two first-team pitchers.

Earning second team for Norwalk was senior pitcher Austin Christman. Nate Adelman and Leighton Battles were both honorable mention for the Truckers.

Bellevue infielder Trey Ruhlman was also second team, as were outfielders Kayden Vogel and Dalton Hay. Daniel Burris and Bryce McMurray were honorable mention.

Roberts is top player in Bay division

Days ahead of a Division III regional semifinal, Edison senior Bryce Roberts was voted the Most Outstanding Performer of the Bay division.

Entering Thursday’s game vs. Coldwater at Elida, Roberts is batting .410 with six doubles, a triple, home run and 10 RBIs.

On the mound, Roberts is 7-2 with a 0.99 ERA. He has struck out 81 batters to 14 walks in 56 1/3 innings of work.

Also earning first team for the Chargers (15-9) was pitcher Caden Cooper. The junior is 6-0 with a 0.78 ERA so far this season. In 54 innings, Cooper has struck out 91 batters to just nine walks.

Outfielder Cody Scott was also on the first team for Edison. The senior is batting .348 with four doubles and 11 RBIs.

Also for Edison, Caleb Bissell was second team on the infield, while Cooper McIntyre, Thomas Oeder, Richard Crooks and Jadon Hanson were all honorable mention.

Willard had a pair of second-team selections in senior infielder Narcicio Resendez and freshman outfielder Ashton Ames. The trio of Austin Adelman, Spencer Parrott and Alec Gardner were honorable mention.
