Go Figure!

Well, winter sports are officially over with Edison the last team to bow out of the boys’ basketball tournament for the second consecutive year. So, this week’s Go Figure! will put a nice little bow on winter sports and bring a little preview to get the blood flowing for spring sports. Lets get to it. Here is this week’s Go Figure!

Number of points James Hill scored for Edison in his final game of his junior season during the Chargers 54-44 loss in the regional semifinals to Marion Local last week at Bowling Green State University. It was a team high.

Number of points scored by Edison senior Bryce Ostheimer during his final basketball game in a Chargers’ uniform. He was second on the team an the only other player to finish in double figures. He walks away with two district championships.

Number of seniors on the Edison boys’ basketball team. Ostheimer joined by Braden Ehrhardt and Nick Frederick played their final game in Edison blue last week.

Number of pitchers with sub-4 earned run averages for the Norwalk Truckers’ baseball teams. Blake Obringer owned a 6-1 record with a 2.37 ERA, Jake Roth had a 3-1 record with a 3.21 ERA, Quinn Hipp had a 2-0 record with 3 saves and a 0 ERA and Mitchell Perry had a 2-1 record with a .97 ERA.

The strikeout to walk ratio for St. Paul’s Nick Lukasko last season on the mound. He struck out 36 batters while walking just six. He owned a 2.24 ERA in 50 innings pitched.

Number of first team All-Sandusky Bay Conference returning lettermen for Edison’s baseball team. Clay Cooper, Bryce Roberts and Sam Stoll all earned the honors last season. Cooper struck out 74 batters on the mound, Roberts owned a 1.77 ERA and Stoll hit .324 in just 12 games.

Number of wins for the New London Wildcats’ baseball team last season after going 24-4 and 13-1 in the Firelands Conference. The Wildcats were FC, sectional and district champs last season.

The ERA for FC Pitcher of the Year Ryan Lane who has signed with Division I Kent State for next season. He was 9-0 last season on the bump.

The batting average for South Central catcher Desiree Chill during her sophomore season. She earned first team All-Firelands Conference and Honorable Mention All-Northwest District.

Number of returning letterwinners for the Plymouth Big Red softball team who advanced to the regional final last season for the first time in school history.

Number of returning letterwinners for the New London Lady Cats’ softball team who finished tied for second in the FC last season.

Number of individual events New London’s Morgan Luedy qualified for state in. She advanced in the 100 hurdles, 100 dash, 300 hurdles and 200 dash.

Number of relay teams that advanced to state for St. Paul last year. The Flyers had a relay team in each of the 4x200, 4x100, and 4x400 relay events.
