South Central announces host of upcoming fine arts events

GREENWICH — Sept. 9 through 15 was designated by Congress as National Arts in Education Week.

There are great things happening in the classrooms, on the stages and in the community because South Central Local Schools has created opportunities for students to learn about and produce quality art, theater and music.

In 2018, South Central Local Schools was named by the NAMM Foundation as one of the Best Communities for Music Education. This is the fifth year in a row that the district has received this national award.

Here are future fine arts events at South Central:

• The SC theater department will present the musical “Shrek” on Nov. 2 and 3. Call the high school for more information at 419-752-3354.

• The winter band concert is at 7 p.m. Nov. 28. Call the middle school for more information  at 419-752-0011.

• The elementary school music concerts will be held March 26 and 28. Call the elementary school for more information at 419-752-5021.

• The district art show will be held in the spring. Call the high school for more information at 419-752-3354.

South Central offers art and music classes for students in kindergarten through grade 12. The theater program includes students in middle and high school.
