Norwalk High School to host art show, spring band concert Tuesday

The Norwalk High School band, industrial education and art departments will present the 2018 art show and spring band concert Tuesday at the school.

The art show will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. in the NHS art gallery and Ernsthausen Performing Arts Center lobby.

It will feature work from students in design, drawing, advanced drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, fibers and glass, printmaking, digital art and art appreciation. All works will be judged and awards given, including Best of Show, 2D and 3D and Peoples’ Choice.

Senior independents study students Elliot Adkins and Danielle Ashkiah will be featured as they present their body of work from four years of art study at NHS.

The Norwalk High School industrial education department will display the work of many students including toolboxes and heart-shaped jewelry boxes created by class members. The show also will feature tile-top coffee tables and string art projects created by the advanced woodworking class.

The concert band will presenting its spring concert at 7:30 p.m. in the Ernsthausen Performing Arts Center. It will feature the band under the direction of Sandy Bennett, the jazz band and wind ensemble under the direction of Will Kish and a performance by the combined bands conducted by Bennett in her final performance with the NHS band.

The concert will feature music from a wide variety of composers and styles. Works will include music by Gene Milford, Ludwig van Beethoven, Daniel Bukvich, Norman Dello Joio and Glenn Miller.

Admission to these events is free and there is no charge for parking. Tickets aren’t required for the concert or the art show.
