The board of supervisors reorganized during its Jan. 22 meeting. Ganz, Brad Harris, Gerald Martin, Dan Stevens, and Don Sweeting will hold the respective positions of secretary, treasurer, special projects member, chairman and vice chairman.
The SWCD board consists of volunteers elected to three-year terms and they set the policy and procedures. The regular board meetings are at 8 p.m. the third Monday of each month. However, a special board meeting will be held at 8:00 p.m. Feb. 19, due to the Presidents Day holiday on Feb. 18. The board meetings are held in the conference room of the Huron/Erie Agricultural Service Center, 8 Fair Road.
The staff is taking pre-paid orders for fish for pond stocking, as well as, tree seedling orders and accepts cash, check and credit cards. The fish order deadline is April 9, while the pickup is from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. April 16 beside the building. Black crappies, largemouth bass, bluegill, hybrid bluegill, channel catfish, yellow perch, fathead minnows, amur, Japanese koi, redear sunfish, and pond conditioner are being sold. It is important to make arrangements to pick up the prepaid orders on the specified date at the specified time.
For tree seedlings, pre-paid orders are taken until the expected shipment from the SWCD vendor is depleted, so order early. They are sold first come, first serve. The seedling pickup is on one day — from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. April 19. The seedlings must be picked up on the specified date for greatest survival.
All sales are contingent on availability. Offers of substitutions may be made.
